The Constitutional Tribunal dispute can no longer be treated as an internal management quarrel. President Karol Nawrocki’s Saturday talks with party leaders, alongside Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s planned 8 p.m. address, show that the conflict has been elevated into a national political crisis. That makes a public account of every side’s legal authority more important than another round of political declarations.
Polsat News reported that Nawrocki had spoken with, among others, Mateusz Morawiecki, Adrian Zandberg and Szymon Hołownia. Before his meeting, Confederation leader Krzysztof Bosak said his group would present a resolution to shorten the Sejm’s term, arguing that the government should be removed lawfully. That is Bosak’s political position, not a legal finding and not evidence that such a resolution has been adopted.
At the same time, the Prime Minister’s Office announced, according to Polsat News, that Tusk would speak at 8 p.m. TVN24 also reported the planned address and described Friday evening as a turning point at the Tribunal. The available excerpts do not establish what Tusk will say or what decisions, if any, he will announce.
The central issue is not simply which camp invokes “constitutional order” more forcefully. The supplied brief says rival sides in the struggle over control of the Tribunal issued mutually contradictory working instructions. When a constitutional court is subject to competing claims of leadership, political consultations may be necessary, but they cannot by themselves replace a process that restores predictable institutional operation.
The strongest counterargument is that one side lacks authority and that intervention is needed to restore the rule of law. That claim still requires documents and independent scrutiny. The material available here contains neither the formal legal instruments nor an independent judicial ruling needed to determine who holds lawful authority.
The next point to watch is the substance of Tusk’s evening address and whether the presidential consultations produce a shared, public proposal for a procedure to end the impasse.
