Around 2,150 children took part in two Olympic Days at Siljansvallen on 4 and 5 September. Twenty local sports clubs offered try-out activities with Leksand Municipality and the Swedish Olympic Committee. Friday was for pupils in years 1–4, while Saturday opened to the public and attracted around 2,500 visitors.
What happened?
During the school day on 4 September, pupils tried sports, met Olympians and joined activities at Siljansvallen. The programme included orienteering, athletics, shot put and discus. The following day, the site was open to the public.
The twenty clubs also represented golf, tennis, ice hockey, riding, gymnastics, curling, mountain biking and triathlon. A snowboard and freestyle club built a miniature snow slope with rails. On both days, children could run or walk an Olympic race of about 500 metres and received a medal at the finish.
Fritidsbanken was present and lent equipment free of charge. The participation and activity figures describe the completed event, not a forthcoming registration round.

Impact and significance
The event allowed children to meet many clubs in one place and try activities before choosing a leisure interest. Combining a school day with an open family day broadened participation. The 2,500 figure refers to Saturday visitors, while around 2,150 refers to children over the weekend; the measures should not be treated as counts of the same group.
Several current and former Olympians attended, including Leksand swimmer Sara Junevik. The municipality also lists Peppe Femling, Danijela Rundqvist, Anna Lindberg, Oscar Wester, Jessica Lindell Vikarby and Maria Danielsson.
Background
The Swedish Olympic Committee organised the days with the municipality and local clubs. SOK partners Uniqlo and Svenska Spel provided support. The municipal report stresses the clubs' role in delivering the programme. It does not, however, provide follow-up figures on how many participants subsequently joined a club.
