WUA Radar The City of Borås presented on August 15 a pilot project for Viskan where pollutants are to be bound directly in the sediments instead of the bottom being dredged. The goal is to reduce toxicity and spread and evaluate a possible gentler and cheaper method.
A new artificial turf field was inaugurated at Skänninge sports ground on 10 August. The old SBR rubber granulate has been removed. Granulate traps in stormwater wells, retaining walls and asphalt surfaces should reduce the spread of granules and microplastics.
Adult education in Gagnef has admitted twelve students to the nursing assistant programme starting in August. The students come from several municipalities in Dalarna. The municipality links the higher intake to expanded collaboration on vocational education.
Cultural creators with connections to Blekinge can apply for the region’s cultural grant until September 1. At least four scholarships of SEK 25,000 each are awarded. The application can be submitted by a person, group or association.
Valdemarsvik’s business evening will be held on August 26 at Valdemarsvik’s Sparbank. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program runs approximately 6-8:30 p.m. The deadline for registration is August 18 and the number of places is limited.
Nacka municipality and the police carry out an information campaign about electric scooters for children and young people. Vehicles with higher speed or engine power, or which have been tuned after purchase, may be subject to different rules and may not always be used on public roads.
Arvika Pride takes place on August 17–23 with a lecture, politicians’ talks, workshops, dance, film, church service and parade. Some activities require pre-booking or a ticket. The parade starts on August 22 at 1 p.m. after gathering in the city park at 12 p.m.
Ystad residents threw away an average of 152 kilos of residual waste per person in 2025. The municipality’s goal is to reduce the amount to 100 kilos per person in 2027 through better sorting of food waste and packaging and fewer unnecessary purchases.
Uddevalla Municipality limed lakes, waterways and wetlands on Bredfjället and Herrestadsfjället on 13–16 August. A further round is planned later in August. The work is intended to counteract acidification and improve aquatic habitats for fish and crustaceans.
The picture lab at Agnes Kulturhus combines art scouting in the Art Gallery with creation in the studio. School classes are divided into two groups that switch activities halfway through. Visits can be booked on Tuesdays from 15 September to 20 October and 13 November to 15 December from 9.30am to 11am.
