WUA Radar Since August 1, children in Södertälje’s municipal schools receive a basic period of stay during free time, even when the guardian is on parental leave, at home, looking for work or on sick leave. The time applies after the end of the school day until 5 p.m. and during shorter school holidays.
Skara municipality conducts a suicide prevention week on September 7–13 together with the Church of Sweden, associations and local actors. Lectures and activities should increase knowledge about mental health and support. The complete program had not yet been published when the municipality’s news was published.
Skara municipality organizes a free afternoon about the election on August 19 at 5-7 pm at Skaravallen. Visitors can meet representatives of the city council’s parties, ask questions and get practical information about how voting is done. In case of bad weather, the activities are moved indoors.
Osby Municipality has published guidelines for posting in public places before the election. Election posters may be put up no earlier than five weeks before election day and must be removed no later than one week after. At the places designated by the municipality, no police permit is required if the guidelines are followed.
Roslagen Pride was held in Norrtälje on 15 August. The Pride Parade started in Societetsparken at 1pm and returned around 2pm. During the day, traffic along the route was restricted and parking was prohibited on both sides of Badstugatan between 7.30am and 7pm.
Motala’s proposal for an in-depth overview plan for the urban area is out for consultation from 17 August to 2 November. Residents can read the plan proposal digitally, in the library and in the municipal hall, and submit views that are later compiled in a consultation report.
Schools in Lund can register classes in grades 4–6 to På egna ben by August 20 at the latest. Between September 7 and October 9, students collect points by walking, cycling or traveling by public transport and by teaching tasks about the environment, health and road safety.
The Swedish Election Authority’s national information campaign runs from 10 August to election day on 13 September. The messages focus on the election and when voters can cast their ballots. Early voting in Sweden begins on August 26, while special information for Swedes abroad is already underway.
The Moderate Party wants an independent review every time a woman is killed and tighter follow-up of the resulting recommendations. The party also wants to examine how measures can be implemented more quickly at national, regional and local levels. Structure, mandate and responsibilities have not yet been specified.
The moderates say that the party’s reforms for the next term should be financed through reduced waste, less bureaucracy, tighter subsidies and reprioritized aid.
