Two C30 trains now operate in regular service on Stockholm's blue metro line during rush hours and selected weekend periods. They carry more passengers, have air conditioning and improved accessibility. More are planned when the Rissne depot reaches full capacity in summer 2027.
What happened?
After testing and late-evening runs in 2025, the first scheduled blue-line C30 began weekday evening service on 31 August 2026. From 7 September it expanded to rush hours and some weekend periods. Service remains limited to two trains until depot capacity expands.

Impact and significance
C30 offers wheelchair and pram areas, braille, clearer door signals, lower-slip flooring and air conditioning. Capacity and accessibility may improve, but passengers cannot expect C30 on every departure during rollout. Older C20 trains will be phased out gradually.
Background
C30 has operated on the red line since 2020. Signalling limits it to red, blue and new lines. A full-length train uses two C30 cars versus three C20 cars, so car count alone does not indicate train length or capacity.

Two C30 trains operate on the blue line in autumn 2026. More are planned in 2027 when Rissne depot is expected to reach full capacity next summer, but this is not a guaranteed fleet-conversion date. Passengers should use live SL information for departures and disruptions.
