Gnesta Municipality is introducing a Security Operations Center service for round-the-clock monitoring and investing SEK 700,000 in safer, more resilient infrastructure. The monitoring rollout receives SEK 150,000 in 2026 and will be evaluated after a year. Gnesta is also joining SKR’s joint cybersecurity initiative.
Gnesta Municipality is resuming the Solåkravägen water and sewer project after follow-up sampling found no additional PFAS contamination or other tested pollutants within the work area. Earlier low readings appear limited to a small area. The conclusion applies to the investigation, not all land beyond the sampled area.
A project offered 13,000 women in parts of Spånga and Skärholmen free public transport to mammography. Participation rose from 57.1% to 65.3% in one area and from 57.8% to 63.7% in another. Region Stockholm says the results are promising but need larger-scale testing.
Vadstena’s provisional municipal result makes the Moderates the largest party with 12 of 35 council seats. A total of 5,465 people voted and turnout rose 0.6 percentage points to 87.5%. The figures follow the Wednesday count, while the county board’s final count continues.
Municipal collection counts for Sweden’s parliamentary election are complete. The updated preliminary allocation gives the Social Democrats 99 seats, Moderates 70, Sweden Democrats 62, Left Party 30, Centre Party 25, Christian Democrats 22, Greens 22 and Liberals 19. Turnout is 84.8%, but the final count remains.
Residents and visitors in Norrtälje, Rimbo and Hallstavik can answer the municipality’s summer public-space survey from 14 September to 5 October. Topics include park maintenance, street cleaning and road safety. Responses are anonymous and will inform development, but the survey is open rather than a statistical random sample.
Vadstena Municipality accepts expressions of interest for the funeral-services ombudsman role until 15 October. The ombudsman reviews the Church of Sweden’s funeral operations and represents non-members. Individuals and religious or belief organisations may also nominate directly to the county board by 30 October.
Osby municipal council decided on 16 February to reduce its membership from 41 to 35 after the 2026 election. The Local Government Act minimum for the municipality is 31, but the council chose four seats above that threshold. The change also reduces committee membership but does not alter how votes are received or counted.
The Swedish Election Authority’s final candidate list for the 2026 elections includes 54,780 people. Together they represent 71,496 valid candidacies because one person may stand in several elections or for more than one party. Of these, 6,309 concern parliament, 12,836 regional councils and 52,351 municipal councils.
Nacka Municipality disputes Region Stockholm’s higher estimate for restoring the Saltsjöbanan track bed after use during the Värmdövägen expansion. The agreement was based, according to Nacka, on roughly SEK 68.5–70 million. A 2025 regional estimate is said to be over 400% higher after reclassification from an encroachment case to an investment project.
