Huddinge Municipality describes this as the first time voter cards have been sent in this way. Users can opt out of digital mail from an organisation and continue receiving physical post.
What happened?
Digital mail can be accessed on a phone, tablet or computer and requires electronic identification to sign in. The municipality lists Billo, Kivra and Min myndighetspost as examples of mailbox services. According to Huddinge’s information, setting up and using them is free.
To begin, a user selects a mailbox and registers with BankID or another electronic ID. The voter card is sent digitally to people who both have the service and accept government mail there. The announcement does not mean that every voter receives a voter card through ordinary email or a standard text message.

People who prefer paper can opt out of digital mail from an organisation in their mailbox settings. Huddinge notes that opting out for the municipality applies to every type of municipal mailing. Both letters and invoices from Huddinge will then arrive on paper, not only election-related information.
