Eskilstuna Culture Night returns on 19 September with concerts, exhibitions and activities across the city's venues and meeting places. According to the municipality, admission to the programme is free. The evening concludes at 22:00 in Fristadstorget with circus and live music in Between us.
What happened?
The municipality's announcement on 7 September describes a programme including rock, jazz, dance, baby disco, role-playing, creative workshops and steam engines. Events take place at several locations, so visitors need to check the time and venue for each activity they want to attend.
The full programme is available on the Culture Night website. Printed guides can be picked up at the city library, city museum and Fristadstorget. Participating organisations create the festival, which is coordinated by Eskilstuna Municipality.
The finale in Fristadstorget brings together Cirkus Cirkör and the music group Symbio. The municipality presents the show as a world premiere. Circus artists perform alongside musicians Johannes Geworkian Hellman and LarsEmil Öjeberg, according to the dedicated event page.

Impact and significance
The range of events makes it possible to combine different cultural experiences in one evening. A family looking for an activity for young children and a visitor wanting to hear jazz need not follow the same programme. The shared event guide allows people to select their own stops and plan journeys between them.
Between us explores relationships through movement, balance and music. A line between two performers is used to examine closeness and distance, individual work and cooperation, and what happens when contact breaks down. It therefore provides a theatrical finale with its own theme alongside the festival's other concerts and activities.
Background
Directed by Alexander Weibel Weibel, the show is a co-production by Cirkus Cirkör, Eskilstuna Municipality's Scener och evenemang unit and CirkusPerspektiv. Scenkonst Sörmland is a collaborating partner, with support from Kulturbryggan.
The organiser connects the theme to community, reducing loneliness and raising awareness of suicide prevention. This describes the production's focus; it is not a claim that a cultural event replaces healthcare or support.

The event page also lists a preview at Lokomotivet on 10 September, in connection with World Suicide Prevention Day. This is separate from Culture Night's outdoor finale at 22:00 on 19 September. Check the current programme before visiting for details of each venue and event.
