Parents with children aged up to two can register for a new ABC group in Gnesta. The four-morning series starts at the Family Centre on 30 September. Registration closes on 21 September, according to the municipality's information about the autumn group.
What happened?
The municipality announced the new group on 7 September. Its detailed course page lists sessions on 30 September and 7, 14 and 21 October. All run from 10:00 to 11:30 at Familjecentralen Gnesta, Nygatan 29. Registration is through the municipal online service.
Each group brings together five to ten parents and is led by two trained facilitators. Children stay in the room. The group session itself is described as lasting about an hour, followed by time for refreshments and informal conversation. The municipality recommends that the same parent attend all four sessions to get the most from the programme.

Impact and significance
For families considering taking part, this is a connected series rather than four separate lectures requiring individual registrations. The timetable and the option to bring the child help parents assess how the meetings fit into everyday life. Between sessions, participants can try new skills at home with their child.
The content covers both everyday interaction and more difficult situations. The first meeting focuses on adults as role models and positive moments together. The second addresses children's development and how adults can notice and put words to young children's emotions.
Background
The third session focuses on preventing and managing challenging situations, including moments when a parent needs to make a decision. The final meeting addresses stress and frustration in parenting.
According to the municipality, ABC draws on attachment theory and children's rights. Parents are introduced to research and also exchange experiences. The group's own questions and needs are intended to shape the discussions. Participation is therefore a central part of the sessions alongside the planned content.
