Torggaraget in central Halmstad will remain closed until 1 February 2027 after long delivery times delayed the Stora torg project. Drivers are directed to Svartmunken, Radioplan, Gamletull and P-hus Combi, which together provide about 1,200 spaces. Earlier reopening remains possible.

What happened?

Parts of the square project have taken longer than planned, extending the temporary closure. The project manager names 1 February as the reopening date while retaining the possibility of an earlier opening. Permit holders continue to receive spaces in nearby garages through municipal arrangements.

Location

Halmstad, Hallands län

Impact and significance

The closure affects residents, commuters, businesses and visitors. The 1,200-space figure is total alternative capacity and does not guarantee availability at every time. Drivers should check signs, opening hours, height limits and fees. Svartmunken offers the first hour free through year-end under current information.

Background

When the garage reopens it will have fewer spaces because a stairwell and parts of a restaurant will be built during 2027. Rådhusgatan spaces have separately changed to paid two-hour parking to increase turnover for short visits.

Latest update

The current end date is 1 February 2027, although an earlier reopening may be announced. Check Halmstad's live project information before travel, especially for accessibility needs or permits. On reopening, the page should be updated with the actual date, capacity and remaining work.
