Kulturstället Ryttaren was inaugurated on Stora torget in Falköping on the morning of 15 August. Municipal executive chair Adam Johansson and culture and leisure committee chair Anders Blom gave speeches before the ribbon was cut and a banner was lowered across the façade. The renovated premises then opened to visitors. The inauguration also marked the start of Familjelördagen, a family Saturday with an 1980s theme and activities both in the squares and inside Ryttaren.

The municipality describes Ryttaren as an open meeting place for both informal social activity and creative work. Culture director Karin Hermansson says its programme is intended to include stage performances, exhibitions and activities created by the municipality together with others. According to the municipality, the work behind the venue dates back to a 2019 retail study. The study pointed to a need for more reasons to visit central Falköping. Adam Johansson describes the aim as complementing the culture already present in the town centre with an open meeting place. Municipal representatives also hope that more central visitors may benefit shops, cafés and restaurants, but this is a stated goal rather than a reported result.
