Nationwide non-profit organizations can apply for grants from the wildlife conservation fund between August 14 and September 30. For the grant year 2027, the Environmental Protection Agency may distribute a maximum of SEK 14.5 million. A decision is expected at the end of December 2026 or at the latest at the beginning of 2027.

What happened?

The application round applies to organizations whose activities promote hunting, game conservation or similar measures that are compatible with the purpose of the Hunting Act. The applicant must, among other things, be non-profit, conduct nationwide activities and have been active for at least three years. The complete form requirements follow regulation 2021:12 and the authority's application information. Previous support does not automatically mean the right to a new grant.

Impact and significance

The support can be given as an organization grant or an activity grant, and an applicant can receive both after assessment. Organizational contributions are assessed, among other things, according to the number of members, geographical spread and level of activity. Operating grants refer to a special contribution and are linked to performance requirements. Organizations therefore need to choose the right basis and clearly show how the activities fit the fund's purpose.

Background

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency first examines formal requirements and then the purpose. For former recipients, the accounting of older support is weighted. The authority encourages coordinated applications when the national organization and local organizations work in the same field. The ceiling of SEK 14.5 million is lower than in previous years, according to the authority, because fund-financed procured services have become more expensive. The government decides on the allocation of funds to the fund.

Latest update

The application is open until 30 September 2026. Applicants should use the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's form and check eligibility, attachments and signature in good time.
